Hairy Gilled Worm

Enemies & Escape

No specific reference was found on predators in our literature search. It is reasonable, however, to expect that these animals are eaten by some fish and birds.

However N. robusta stays in a tube under rocks while extending out long tentacles for food and building material.  It might loose a few tentacles to predators but probably could grow more.

It is interesting to note that empty hairy gilled worm tubes are often inhabited by a bright red ribbon worm and a scale worm.
